The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the 2025 summer, promising an exhilarating series of fixtures for cricket enthusiasts. Both the men’s and women’s cricket teams of England are set to face off against India in simultaneous series, in what promises to be a summer of high-octane cricket. Highlighting the summer’s marquee matchups, England’s men are slated to face India in a five-match Test series from June 20 to August 4, while England’s women will engage in three T20Is and three ODIs against India women, spanning from June 28 to July 22.
Yorkshire’s Headingley ground in Leeds will have the honor of hosting the first Test match between England and India, commencing on June 20. Building off this exciting start, Birmingham will be the stage for the second Test starting on July 2. The cricketing pilgrimage site, Lord’s, will host the third Test from July 10, while the fourth and fifth Tests will unfold in Manchester and The Oval, respectively, ensuring a diverse blend of venues for fans across the country.
Switching focus to the women’s fixtures, their series against the Indian women’s team will kick off with five T20I matches. The action begins on June 28 in Nottingham, followed by games on July 1 in Bristol, July 4 at The Oval, July 9 in Manchester, and July 12 in Birmingham. Following this flurry of T20Is, the competition moves to the ODI format with matches scheduled on July 16 in Southampton, July 19 at the iconic Lord’s, and culminating on July 22 in Chester-le-Street.
Beyond the India series, the summer will witness a myriad of other important fixtures. The West Indies will earlier tour England, with both their men’s and women’s teams engaging in three ODIs and three T20Is respectively. This tour sets the stage for England’s packed cricketing calendar that will see engagements with several other notable teams.
A particularly nostalgic return is on the cards as Zimbabwe prepares to play their first Test in England since 2003, a four-day game scheduled to unfold at Trent Bridge from May 22. This match will serve as the opening fixture for England’s summer schedule.
. Moving towards the tail end of the summer season, England’s men’s team is set to lock horns with South Africa in a brief series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, scheduled from September 2 to September 14. In addition to these duels, England will make a trip to neighboring Ireland, engaging in three ODIs on September 17, 19, and 21.
Expressing his excitement, ECB CEO Richard Gould spotlighted the significance of hosting both men’s and women’s series alongside each other. He remarked, “Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series concurrently has proven to be tremendously popular with fans and has significantly boosted the growth of the women’s game. The successes of the combined Ashes series last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year are testaments to this strategy. I am thrilled that we will be continuing this trend for the West Indies and India series next year. We are poised for a thrilling summer of cricket, and I urge fans to come out in large numbers to support both our men’s and women’s squads.”
Commenting further on the India matches, Gould added, “India’s tours always draw massive crowds and are undoubtedly a highlight of any cricket summer. The previous men’s Test series against India was a nail-biting affair, and the upcoming series promises to be just as gripping. Our women’s encounters with India are equally competitive and thrilling. Additionally, we look forward to welcoming the West Indies teams once again for the white-ball fixtures, following the highly memorable men’s Test series this year.”
Gould also provided an exciting forecast for the subsequent year, announcing that the Indian women’s team will return to England in 2026 to play in what will be the first ever women’s Test match at Lord’s, marking another historic milestone for women’s cricket.
Overall, the 2025 summer schedule is loaded with an enticing mix of traditional Test matches and high-energy limited-overs games that cater to the tastes of all cricket aficionados. With such an enriched lineup, both the seasoned lovers of the sport and the new generation of fans will have much to savor in England’s cricketing summer of 2025.
