The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the 2025 summer cricket season, promising a thrilling spectacle for cricket enthusiasts. Notably, the schedule includes concurrent series for both the men’s and women’s teams, featuring high-stakes matches against powerhouse teams like India. From June 20 to August 4, the England men’s cricket team will engage in a riveting five-match Test series against India, while the England women’s team will host India for a competitive series comprising three T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs) from June 28 to July 22.
Cricket fans have plenty to look forward to as Leeds gears up to host the opening Test of the England-India men’s series on June 20. This match marks the beginning of what promises to be a fiercely contested series. Following the opener in Leeds, the second Test will be hosted in Birmingham, kicking off on July 2. The iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground is set to be the venue for the third Test, starting on July 10. The series will then move to Manchester for the fourth Test, followed by the concluding fifth Test at The Oval.
Simultaneously, the India women’s team will begin their tour of England on June 28, starting with the first of five T20Is at Nottingham. The subsequent T20I matches will take place in Bristol (July 1), The Oval (July 4), Manchester (July 9), and Birmingham (July 12). The white-ball series will culminate with three ODIs, scheduled for July 16 in Southampton, July 19 at Lord’s, and July 22 in Chester-le-Street.
Prior to the eagerly awaited India series, the West Indies will tour England, providing an exciting prelude to the summer. Both the England men’s and women’s teams will play three ODIs and three T20Is each against their Caribbean counterparts. This tour is set to build momentum leading into the high-profile clashes against India.
The summer’s cricketing festivities will officially commence with Zimbabwe’s return to English soil for the first time since 2003. A historic four-day Test match is set to be played at Trent Bridge from May 22.
. As the summer season winds down, England’s men’s team will face South Africa in a trio of ODIs and T20Is from September 2 to September 14. Adding to the global cricket schedule, England will travel to Ireland towards the end of September for three ODIs, slated for September 17, 19, and 21.
ECB CEO Richard Gould expressed his enthusiasm and highlighted the strategic merit of running parallel men’s and women’s series. “Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series alongside each other has been popular with fans and supported the continued growth of the women’s game. Both the Ashes last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year proved successful. I’m excited we’ll continue this approach for the West Indies and India series next year. Cricket fans are in for a real treat, and I hope they’ll be out in force to support both men’s and women’s sides,” said Gould.
Gould also underscored the significant interest generated by India’s tours, noting, “India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nail-biter, and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting. Our women’s series are always fiercely competitive. I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series.”
In an exciting revelation for future cricketing events, Gould mentioned that the India women’s team is set to return to England in 2026 to participate in what will be the first-ever women’s Test match at Lord’s, marking another milestone in the expanding landscape of women’s cricket.
Cricket fans around the world can now mark their calendars for an explosive summer of cricket in 2025. The ECB’s comprehensive schedule promises action-packed series that cater to both men’s and women’s teams, making for an unforgettable season. An exciting mix of Test and white-ball cricket against top-tier international sides will ensure that fans are thoroughly entertained and engaged throughout the summer.
