The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled an action-packed schedule for the 2025 summer cricket season, featuring an array of exhilarating matchups for both the men’s and women’s teams. One of the most highly anticipated highlights of this schedule is the concurrent series between England and India, with matches set to captivate cricket fans from June to September.
The iconic five-match Test series between the England and India men’s teams is slated to commence on June 20 and run through to August 4. This series opener will be held in Leeds, a city renowned for its passionate cricket fan base. Following the excitement in Leeds, the action will move to Birmingham for the second Test, scheduled to start on July 2. Fans will then turn their attention to the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground for the third Test, which begins on July 10. The fourth and fifth Tests will be held at two of the most celebrated cricket venues in the country: Manchester and The Oval, respectively. The climax of this enthralling Test series is expected to draw in large crowds and deliver memorable cricketing moments.
Parallel to the men’s contest, the England and India women’s teams will also be locking horns in a series that promises to deliver top-notch cricket. Their engagements include three T20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One Day Internationals (ODIs), kicking off with a T20I in Nottingham on June 28. The women’s series will continue with matches in Bristol on July 1, The Oval on July 4, Manchester on July 9, and Birmingham on July 12. The ODI segment of the tour will commence in Southampton on July 16, followed by matches at the iconic Lord’s on July 19, and concluding in Chester-le-Street on July 22.
Before India arrives, the summer season will start with a bang as England welcomes the West Indies. The men’s and women’s teams will be facing off against their Caribbean counterparts in three ODIs and three T20Is each. These matches are expected to set the tone for an exhilarating season of cricket.
Adding to the excitement is a historic return, with Zimbabwe playing their first Test in England since 2003. This notable four-day Test match will take place at Trent Bridge, starting on May 22, and marks an important chapter in the cricketing calendar.
Towards the end of the summer, cricket fans can look forward to another exciting series when the England men’s team plays against South Africa. This series, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, will be held from September 2 to September 14.
. Adding an international flavor to the end of the season, England will also travel to Ireland in September for a trio of ODIs scheduled on the 17th, 19th, and 21st.
“Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series alongside each other has been popular with fans and supported the continued growth of the women’s game, with both the Ashes last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year proving successful. I’m excited we’ll be doing the same again for the West Indies and India series next year. Cricket fans are in for a real treat, and I hope they’ll be out in force to support both men’s and women’s sides,” Richard Gould, CEO of the ECB, remarked with enthusiasm.
Highlighting the immense appeal of the India series, Gould added, “India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nail-biter and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting. Our women’s series are always fiercely competitive. I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series.”
Gould also announced an exciting future prospect, stating that India women will return to England in 2026 to feature in the first-ever women’s Test at the historic Lord’s. This move is set to further solidify the growth and popularity of women’s cricket.
