Even though several batsmen managed to get off to good starts, none could convert these into substantial scores. The critical moment came when Head was dismissed for 48 in the 12th over, providing MI with a significant breakthrough. By the 17th over, SRH found themselves struggling at 136 for eight, compelling them to field Sanvir Singh as the impact player.
Displaying defiance in the latter part of their innings, Pat Cummins emerged as the savior for SRH with a belligerent inning. Scoring an electrifying 35 off just 17 balls, including two sixes and two fours, Cummins guided SRH to a respectable total of 173 runs.

Suryakumar, adopting a counter-attacking strategy, began his assault by driving a boundary off Bhuvneshwar Kumar early in his innings. Tilak Varma complemented this with his own display of aggression, particularly targeting Cummins in the sixth over. MI thus managed to finish the powerplay with a score of 52 for three.
Even with the field spreading out post-powerplay, Suryakumar’s relentless aggression didn’t waver. Dominating Marco Jansen’s over, he blitzed 22 runs, including two sixes and two boundaries. Suryakumar turned the match decisively in MI’s favor with his authoritative strokes, supported admirably by Tilak Varma who held his end steady.
Suryakumar’s masterclass took the game away from SRH as he brought up his fifty in just 30 balls. However, it was the subsequent surge that left a lasting impression as he accelerated to his century in another 21 balls, mixing flamboyant attacking shots with calculated aggression.
The final blow was delivered in the 18th over when Suryakumar hammered T Natarajan for a six, not just reaching his century but also sealing a remarkable win for MI with 16 balls remaining.
