The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has revealed an action-packed schedule for the 2025 summer, encompassing simultaneous series for both the men’s and women’s cricket teams. The highlight of this cricketing extravaganza is undoubtedly the eagerly anticipated Test series between England and India, set to captivate cricket fans across the globe.
Kicking off the series will be the men’s five-match Test series against India, slated to run from June 20 to August 4. Cricket enthusiasts can mark their calendars for an electrifying opener at Headingley, Leeds, on June 20. From there, the teams will head to Birmingham for the second Test at Edgbaston, starting July 2. The iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground will be the venue for the third Test from July 10, followed by matches at Manchester’s Old Trafford (July 18) and the final showdown at The Oval in London (August 4).
Simultaneously, England’s women’s cricket team will also engage in a series against their Indian counterparts. This encounter will feature three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs). The women’s series begins on June 28 in Nottingham, with T20I fixtures subsequently scheduled for Bristol (July 1), The Oval (July 4), Manchester (July 9), and Birmingham (July 12). The ODI leg will be contested in Southampton (July 16), Lord’s (July 19), and Chester-le-Street (July 22).
The excitement is not confined to the India series alone. Preceding India’s tour, the West Indies will visit England for a series of white-ball clashes. Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in three ODIs and three T20Is respectively. The West Indies’ men’s team series will add further intensity and drama to what promises to be a thrilling summer of cricket in England.
Meanwhile, the summer’s cricket carnival will commence with Zimbabwe’s return to England for their first Test on English soil since 2003.
. This significant four-day Test match will be staged at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from May 22.
Following the India tour, England’s men’s team will host South Africa for yet another highly competitive series. From September 2 to September 14, the two teams will contest three ODIs and three T20Is, further enriching England’s cricketing schedule. Additionally, the end of the summer will see England travel to Ireland for a series of three ODIs, slated for September 17, 19, and 21.
ECB CEO Richard Gould expressed his enthusiasm over the comprehensive schedule. “Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series alongside each other has been popular with fans and supported the continued growth of the women’s game, with both the Ashes last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year proving successful. I’m excited we’ll be doing the same again for the West Indies and India series next year. Cricket fans are in for a real treat, and I hope they’ll be out in force to support both men’s and women’s sides,” stated Gould.
Emphasizing the significance of India’s tour, Gould added, “India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nailbiter and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting, while our women’s series are always fiercely competitive. I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series.”
In a thrilling revelation, Gould also hinted at a historic moment for women’s cricket, disclosing that India women will return to England in 2026 to participate in the first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s. This statement underlines the ECB’s dedication to expanding and promoting women’s cricket on a global stage.
The packed schedule for 2025 not only promises exhilarating matches but also reflects the ECB’s commitment to ensuring the continued growth and appeal of cricket. Fans can look forward to witnessing their favorite stars in action and experiencing the thrill of top-tier cricket across some of the most iconic venues in England.
