The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has unveiled the much-anticipated schedule for the 2025 summer, promising a feast of cricketing action for fans. Both the men’s and women’s teams are set to engage in thrilling encounters, with the highlight being the eagerly awaited series against India. The England men’s team will play a five-match Test series against India from June 20 to August 4, while the England women’s team will host their Indian counterparts in a series comprising three T20Is and three ODIs, running from June 28 to July 22.
The cricket festivities will kick off in Leeds, which will play host to the first Test between England and India from June 20. This initial face-off will set the tone for what promises to be an exhilarating series. The second Test will then move to Birmingham, commencing on July 2, followed by the third Test at the iconic Lord’s from July 10. Manchester and The Oval are slated to be the venues for the fourth and fifth Tests, respectively, adding their rich cricketing heritage to the summer’s spectacle.
For the women’s team, the tour begins with a series of five T20Is: Nottingham will host the first match on June 28, followed by Bristol on July 1, The Oval on July 4, Manchester on July 9, and Birmingham concluding the T20I leg on July 12. The action then transitions to the one-day format with three ODIs scheduled for July 16 in Southampton, July 19 at the illustrious Lord’s, and July 22 in Chester-le-Street.
However, the summer excitement is not just limited to the clashes against India. Preceding the India series, both the men’s and women’s teams will welcome West Indies to English shores for a mix of ODIs and T20Is. The matches against the West Indies will offer a tantalizing prelude to the blockbuster India series, enhancing the summer’s appeal.
Furthermore, England’s cricketing summer will commence with a significant historical moment as Zimbabwe returns for their first Test in England since 2003. This four-day match is scheduled to take place at Trent Bridge from May 22. Towards the tail end of the summer, the men’s team will also be engaged in a series against South Africa, involving three ODIs and three T20Is planned from September 2 to September 14.
. Adding another riveting chapter to the summer cricketing saga, the England men’s team will travel to Ireland in September to play three ODIs, scheduled for the 17th, 19th, and 21st.
ECB CEO Richard Gould expressed his excitement over the packed schedule, emphasizing the importance of simultaneous series for both men’s and women’s teams. “Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series alongside each other has been popular with fans and supported the continued growth of the women’s game, with both the Ashes last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year proving successful. I’m excited we’ll be doing the same again for the West Indies and India series next year. Cricket fans are in for a real treat, and I hope they’ll be out in force to support both men’s and women’s sides,” Gould articulated.
Highlighting the significance of India’s visit, Gould added, “India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nailbiter and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting, while our women’s series are always fiercely competitive. I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series.” He further noted that the India women’s team would return to England in 2026 for a historic occasion, featuring in the first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s.
The full schedule for England’s home summer in 2025 is as follows: an early season men’s Test against Zimbabwe, followed by white-ball series against West Indies for both men’s and women’s teams. This leads to the highly anticipated men’s Test series against India, concurrent with the women’s white-ball series against their Indian counterparts. The summer closes with a men’s white-ball series against South Africa and a brief but thrilling tour to Ireland.
Cricket enthusiasts are set for a summer of riveting action, eye-catching performances, and historic moments. The packed calendar promises to cater to all cricketing tastes, ensuring fans across the globe remain glued to every ball bowled and every run scored.
