The headline event of England’s 2025 cricketing calendar is undoubtedly the men’s five-match Test series against India, starting on June 20 and stretching over six weeks, concluding on August 4. Leeds will have the honor of hosting the opening Test match, a venue with a rich cricketing history that has seen many memorable encounters. The series will then move to Birmingham for the second Test starting on July 2. London will host the third Test at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground from July 10. Subsequently, Manchester’s Old Trafford and The Oval in London will host the fourth and fifth Tests, respectively, ensuring that fans across the country will have the opportunity to witness top-tier cricket.
Simultaneously, the England women’s team will also have their sights set on India in a series consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs. The women’s series commences on June 28 with the first T20I at Nottingham, followed by matches in Bristol and The Oval. The series will continue with the ODIs, with the first match slated for July 16 in Southampton. Lord’s will again be the focal point for the second ODI on July 19, while the final ODI will take place on July 22 in Chester-le-Street.
However, the fixtures against India are not the only exciting endeavors for England in 2025. Before the intense India series, England will first face a robust challenge from the West Indies. Both the England men’s and women’s teams will engage in white-ball series against the Caribbean side. Each team will play three ODIs and three T20Is. This dual engagement adds a fresh dimension to the early summer cricketing calendar, setting the stage for a thrilling few months.
Kicking off England’s 2025 summer campaign will be an historic Test match against Zimbabwe.
. Scheduled for May 22 at Trent Bridge, this will be Zimbabwe’s first Test on English soil since 2003. This match is certain to draw significant attention as it heralds the start of what promises to be a dynamic summer of cricket.
Towards the latter part of the summer, from September 2 to September 14, the England men’s team will compete in a series of three ODIs and three T20Is against South Africa. This series will present yet another challenging test for the English side right before the close of the summer season.
As a final fixture, the England men’s team will travel across the Irish Sea to conclude their summer with a trio of ODIs in Ireland on September 17, 19, and 21. These matches promise to encapsulate the spirit and camaraderie of cricket, closing out a rigorous and thrilling summer schedule.
Richard Gould, the ECB CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about the jam-packed summer schedule: “Staging England Men’s and England Women’s series alongside each other has been popular with fans and supported the continued growth of the women’s game. Both the Ashes last year and the Pakistan series earlier this year were successful, and I’m excited we’ll be doing the same again for the West Indies and India series next year. Cricket fans are in for a real treat, and I hope they’ll be out in force to support both men’s and women’s sides.”
Gould noted the importance of India’s tour: “India touring is always a big draw and a highlight of any cricket summer. The last men’s Test series here was a nail-biter and I’m sure next year’s clash will be just as exciting, while our women’s series are always fiercely competitive.”
He further added that welcoming the West Indies teams for the white-ball series this year had been a delightful experience. “I’m delighted we’ll also be welcoming both West Indies teams back again for white-ball series, following this year’s men’s Test series,” said Gould. He also unveiled a significant future plan, stating, “India women will return to England in 2026 to feature in the first-ever women’s Test at Lord’s.”
The upcoming 2025 summer schedule is comprehensive and filled with high stakes, catering to the tastes of all cricket fans. Here’s to a remarkable season that will undoubtedly offer exhilarating matches and unforgettable moments. England’s summer of cricket is set to be a rollercoaster ride, and fans worldwide are eagerly anticipating the action.
